It’s the Month of the Military Child: Here’s Where to Find Events in Your Area
April 13, 2018
April is the Month of the Military Child, a time to pay special respect to children of military families. This nation-wide celebration first began in 1986, when Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger established April as a time to recognize the unique sacrifices made by children of military members. Since then, every April, there are Month of the Military Child events and activities all month long, from local parades and parties to in-school programs and much more.
There are currently 1.2 million military children of active duty members worldwide, with approximately 2 million military children experiencing a parental deployment since 9/11. With so many military children around the world, it's important to show them our support during the Month of the Military Child and all year long.
