September 4, 2015
As we approach the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City, area residents will congregate at the Lejeune Memorial Gardens near Heroes Manor on the morning of Friday, Sept. 11. More specifically, they'll be heading toward the park's 9/11 Memorial, the site of a special Patriot Day Observance that occurs every year on the anniversary of the attacks.
Beginning promptly at 8:15 a.m. (the time that the Twin Towers were first struck), the observance, which is is organized by the Onslow Civic Affairs Committee, "honors and remembers victims, first responders and military members who perished as a result of the 9/11 terrorists attacks and in the continued fight against terrorism around the world."
The memorial service concludes at 10 a.m. and is open to the public.
